Taking steps to show unified community pride, the first-ever North Shore & Glen Cove Pride Stride, brought over 300 neighbors together to show all are welcome here!

FAQs

Can I attend Sea Cliff or Glen Cove and not stride?

YES! Come for some or stay for all! Sea Cliff Beach's flag raising will take place approximately 11-11:15am; Glen Cove's Pride program at Village Square  starts at approximately 12pm.

Will the police be present?

YES! Safety is our priority. Since streets will not be closed to traffic, we are asking all neighbors to refrain from walking in the streets, only walk on the sidewalks. With this being the second weekend of beach season, please anticipate drive-thru traffic. The Stride will cross Glen Cove Avenue.

Is this a family-friendly event?

YES! Bring everyone to share in the love!

Where will we be meeting at each location?

Sea Cliff: Let's meet at the gazebo on the beach. Please enter through the beach's main entrance on The Blvd. Nonmembers of the beach will be allowed to join in the festivities!

Glen Cove: Right in the heart of Glen Cove at Glen Cove Village Square, 100 Village Square, corner of Glen and Bridge St., to be exact

Do I need to be a member of Sea Cliff Beach?

NOPE! Please join even if you are not from Sea Cliff.

Can I bring a banner?

YES! Please keep in mind when sizing your banner, our Stride will take place on the sidewalk, not in the street, of the route. 

​

Beyond the stride, what will the event include?

Both sites include flag-raisings,  speakers including Sea Cliff Mayor Elena Villafaine, Glen Cove Councilperson Marsha Silverman, ambassadors from North Shore and Glen Cove School's GSA's, and keynote speaker Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President.

How long has Sea Cliff and Glen Cove held a Pride event?

To our knowledge, and please correct us if we are wrong, this is the first community-wide Pride event within Sea Cliff. Councilperson Marsha Silverman has held a Glen Cove flag-raising program for the past 5 years! To create unity within our community, we connected efforts so all of our neighbors could celebrate together.

Why is LYNP coordinating a Pride event?

As news of increased anti-LGBTQ occurrences has recently spread within the neighborhood, we stand by our mission of connecting neighbors to social goodness by showing all are welcome here.
