In the early morning hours of April 17, a devastating fire destroyed the home of Jorge Ochoa Sr. and his family. They had no choice but to jump from a second-story window to escape the flames while everything they owned—furniture, clothing, school supplies, and cherished belongings—was lost in an instant. Neighbors, honor the unforgettable Marcus Thompson Savwoir—our vibrant, fancy-shoed friend whose light and laughter touched so many. We lost Marcus in December, but his larger-than-life spirit lives on in our community. Now, we have the chance to create a lasting tribute—a memorial bench in Pirie Park, just across from Gallagher’s, a place that meant so much to him. A beloved member of the Glen Street Laundromat & Wash and Fold, Marina, lost her life in a tragic accident as she walked to her Glen Cove home earlier this month. To those who knew her, Marina was a special person whose sweet and caring presence touched the lives of everyone around her.

24-year-old Nicole tragically lost her life after being struck by a driver while crossing Forest Avenue in Glen Cove earlier this April. After two catastrophic home emergencies, Tara is facing an overwhelming financial burden while caring for her mom, Janet, who has multiple sclerosis. a single mother, was diagnosed with aggressive stage II breast cancer and is now facing immense financial hardship while caring for her young son. WILLIAM MORALEZ

While working at a construction site, a concrete wall collapsed on William. During the rush to the hospital, he suffered a heart attack and, unfortunately, he could not survive. DANIEL CRUZ

BARBARA JOHN

Barbara John, a resident of Sea Cliff for decades, passed away after succumbing to a sudden and aggressive resurgence of cancer. She was the loving primary caregiver of her granddaughter. AMANDA PAGNILLO

On the night of December 26, 2022, the family home of Amanda Pagnillo went up in flames. Unfortunately, the family lost most if not all of their belongings. JACK ACCARDI

Anna Brown Jennett, former Sea Cliff celebrity who you may have seen walking around town donning a whimsical hat and positive attitude, is in need of help.  Facing a lifetime of medical issues since childhood, Anna moved to Georgia to help her brother before his passing on December 1, 2021. The stress of losing her last surviving sibling, having to make the multiple decisions and obstacles associated with his affairs is taking a harmful toll on her health.
